Beyond the sound. Beyond the image. The human behind the noise.
For this edition of THE HUMAN BEHIND THE NOISE, we step into the world of SAINTS DOGS, a producer and DJ whose music is deeply connected to memory, emotion and personal experience.
From early experiments with music production to building an underground community through Trajectory, his path has been shaped by curiosity, constant learning and a refusal to follow trends simply because they exist.
We talked about music as a personal memory archive, creative identity, human connection across borders, the harsh northern environment behind PALINGENESIS, and what it means to create with sincerity.
Before we talk about music, who is the person behind SAINTS DOGS? What experiences, emotions or personal beliefs have shaped who you are today?
There is just one person behind SAINTS DOGS. My personality has been shaped by countless trials and errors, always learning and trying to perfect my craft.
You started DJing in 2015 but only began focusing seriously on production in 2021. What changed during those years, and what eventually made you want to create your own music?
Before I got into DJing, a childhood friend and I tried to learn different DAWs, but without any proper training or deep dive. Eventually, we dropped it, but the thought of making music never left me.
Around 2021, I finally found a proper course and started creating what felt comfortable for me, step by step. A lot has changed since then. I’ve developed my own style, approach, and views. To this day, I’m constantly learning new things to achieve what I consider a comfortable sound.
You’ve described your music as a way of preserving memories and emotional states, with each track representing a particular day or experience. Can you tell us more about that connection between your life and your sound?
Each of my tracks is like a snapshot of a certain day. When I listen back to my older work, I immediately remember what I was feeling at the moment of creation.
It’s my personal memory archive.
SAINTS DOGS – PALINGENESIS
Alongside this conversation, SAINTS DOGS presents PALINGENESIS, a track shaped during a period spent far from home under the harsh conditions of the North.
Listen to PALINGENESIS on SoundCloud:
PALINGENESIS was written far from home, under the harsh conditions of the North. What do you remember most vividly about that period, and how did the environment find its way into the track?
During that period, there was almost no sunlight. It felt like a constant night, accompanied by strong winds and freezing cold.
That dark, isolated, and harsh environment completely shaped the mood of the track. I think you can really feel that cold and relentless vibe in the music.
You’re based in Kaliningrad, a place with a distinctive geographical and cultural identity. How has living there influenced your perspective, your creativity and your relationship with underground music?
Honestly, it hasn’t had much of an impact. Even though the city has a rich history, distinctive architecture, and rarely sees sunny weather, my priorities in music are not tied to my location.
You’re also involved in building the underground community through Trajectory. What inspired you to create this platform, and what does it mean to you to bring artists and people together beyond simply releasing music or organising events?
My goal is to unite talented artists. For me, it’s not just about putting out music, but about creating a community of like-minded people around it who share the same feelings.
Your sound is often cold, industrial and intense, yet there’s an emotional dimension beneath the surface. What do you hope people experience when they listen to your music beyond the physical impact of the sound?
Beyond the physical impact of the sound, I hope listeners feel a rush of emotions, let go of negative thoughts, and get a moment to disconnect from their everyday problems.
Underground techno has changed considerably over the past decade, with new trends, expectations and increasingly recognisable formulas. How do you maintain your own artistic identity while being part of an evolving scene?
I simply create what I feel. I’m not chasing trends. If a track resonates with me, it means it’s authentic.
Music can bring together people who live thousands of kilometres apart and may never meet in person. Has being part of the underground community changed the way you see people, connection or the world around you?
Yes. It made me realize that music knows no borders. Even if people live thousands of kilometers apart, they can experience the exact same feelings and emotions.
Imagine someone discovers your music many years from now, knowing nothing about you or the time in which it was created. What would you want them to feel or understand about the human being behind those sounds?
I hope they realize that I created music with total sincerity and poured my soul into it.
I’m just a regular person like anyone else. I just happen to express my emotions through sound.
